Description: This half pint bottle may have been patented (or the patent challenged) in 1942 as a “pitched hour glass container with lid”, but it was likely made before 1930 by the Barney-Bond glass company in PA. Originally, the story behind these from the estate sale agent was that they were brought home from school by an elementary student from his lunch (containing milk) and that a paper top would have been the lid. However the patent reference indicates these may have been medicine bottle used by apothecaries who compounded their own medicine for dentists and doctors. This rare bottle and photos off it were not found in an extensive search of the internet, so whichever is the true story of the use (they could both be accurate) the buyer will have to rely on someone knowledgeable of old glassware as I am not. I do know they are really cool jars. I have two for sale. The nicer of the two will be sent to the first buyer. Both have blemishes, but there are no chips, cracks, or other damage to the glass or the markings. These are being sold separately as is with no returns or refunds. They are covered by the eBay moneyback guarantee.
