Vintage Gillette "Sheraton", TTO, (Open Comb), DE Safety Razor, 1938 & 1939

Description: This is a Vintage Gillette "Sheraton", (Open Comb), TTO twist-to-open, double-edged safety razor. It has no date code stamping, yet we know these razors were presumably only manufactured in 1938 and 1939. However, there is the possibility that this model may have been sold as new, through 1941. This is speculation based on known print advertisement. As seen, this razor is designed with an open comb, not a flat safety bar and the center bar cannot be seen when the doors are closed. Also, the center bar is not notched at its ends, in order to drag a new blade when loading from a blade pack / dispenser. Along with two other models, this is the appearance of Gillette's very first [twist to open] razor, actually introduced in 1934. The retainer screw holding the shaft inside the handle required replacement. Otherwise, the condition of this "Sheraton" is flawless. Please look at all of the photos and judge for yourself. Yes, this Gillette "Sheraton" was re-plated in 24k Gold in 2023. It is understood that 18k Gold plating was used originally, by Gillette. As for the carrying case. It has a worn spot in the cover cloth on the top of the lid. Otherwise, the case opens and snaps closed correctly. It remains in fine condition. The pack of 5 Gillette "Blue Blades" is in fact NOS, (New Old Stock). This kit was recovered by the seller some years ago. It was inspected and found to be a proper candidate for a "Revamp / Replating Service". Since that work was completed, the kit has simply been stored. No one has used it. The razor has been handled with gloves only. Any questions regarding the "Revamp / Replating" service that did the work, will be promptly answered through EBAY contact with this seller. The "Revamp / Replating" service (original authenticity document) will be shipped with everything seen in the photos to the buyer. Some say the "Sheraton" is not an aggressive shaver.
