Description: Vintage George Simonton Black 100% Wool with Genuine Black rabbit Fur Trim Cape. Size small. From Saks Fifth Ave store. This Cape and capelet set is so expensive and luxurious and well-made. There are no signs of defects… Honestly it may only have been worn once or twice and it’s lifetime and very carefully packed away. Both capes are fully lined with a silky type material but I’m not sure exactly what it is. Long cape is 49” long. The outer cape worth the fur trim is Short & the Long Cape underneath are fully detachable. They have snap closure. The short Cape has hook and eye closure for the front of it. The cape is midi length with a bell silhouette and a classic capelet that snaps over top of the cape. The capelet is trimmed in plush, glossy black rabbit fur, that wraps around the neckline, adding an extra dose of luxury and warmth to the piece. The sumptuous fur, wool, and feminine design reminds us of the ensembles of character Lara Guishar in Dr. Zhivago. George M. Simonton Is an alumnus of FIT, and got his start when his designs attracted the eye of Happy Rockefeller, who judged his work at the the New York State Pavilion Contest at The World’s fair. He went on to work with Dan Millstein, Calvin Klein, and at C’est Simone. Millstein has lectured at FIT and The Smithsonian Institute, and starred in “I’ve Got Nothing To Wear,” a program where he advised stylists who work with fashion victims in need of help. Simonton is currently working on collections for Saks Fifth Ave, Nordstrom and Lord & Taylor. Clients include: Elizabeth Taylor, Laura Bush, and Julianna Margulies. Condition is “Pre-owned”.
