Description: A set of eight frosted, highball glasses by Federal Glass, decorated with colorful seahorses, offered by Snowdrift Antiques. Federal Glass began making tumbler style glasses in 1900 in Columbus, OH. Soon they were making jars and bottles, for which they are probably best known. By 1960 they were producing full tableware sets in bold new styles of the day. Federal Glass closed in 1980. In all of their years, Federal probably didn’t make a set of glasses any cooler than these. First of all, they are frosted which makes them awesome. Secondly, they are decorated with colorful seahorses, large on one side of the glass, smaller on the other. The seahorses are in muted shades of cerulean blue, chartreuse, coral and yellow. This pattern is appropriately named, “Cooler”. Each has their Federal “script F” in a shield mark on the bottom. A glass stands 6 ¾ inches tall with a diameter of 2 ½ inches, which calculates to a capacity of about 18 fluid ounces or 543 milliliters. These glasses are in excellent vintage condition. There are no nicks, chips or flea bites. The colors are strong and solid. I see no noticeable wear to the graphics. This is a cool set of 8 highball glasses with a mid-century, beach vibe. This set will be double boxed, which will add to the sipping cost but is necessary to ensure safe arrival. Local pickup is available in Denver, CO.
