Vintage Fragile Glass Wistling Boy Wearing Toboggan Hat

Description: Offering a vintage fragile glass mold blown ornament featuring a boy wearing a toboggan hat. He has chubby whistling cheeks with a hint of pink and his hands are in his pockets. The view from the back makes his look as if he is straddling a stump. His hat has bright pink trim, his suit is a nice turquoise blue with white collar and belt. His mouth appears to be whistling and he is often called whistling boy also. I did find him listed in George Johnson’s Christmas Ornaments, Lights, and Decorations, Vol. I. He rated this ornament from scarce to uncommon. He measures 3 ½” tall and 1 ¾” at the widest. He is in very good condition with the only paint loss is at the top of the pike (typical for old ornaments). While his metal cap is not marked, Mr. Johnson says that he is in German in origin. The cap fits tightly. (#7a, b1) Please examine all photos as they are as important to the description of this item as the words that are written about the item. Supersize them while you are examining the photos. Please remember that vintage ornaments are usually from 40 to 80 years old. All have been used and are thus probably not going to be in perfect condition. All are subject to some surface scratches, flaking to the paint, crazing of paint, age spots, oxidation, silvering loss, nicks around or under caps, may have tarnish / discoloration to metal caps, and some may not have the original caps. These are all signs of age ~ commonly called age patina. NOTE: I do offer combined shipping discounting when used with your shopping cart before you pay.
