Description: ORIGINAL ENID RICHARDSON MOORE 'THE LAST WASH' PAINTINGThis is a wonderful original. I have owned this painting a while and when I was recently doing some research on the artist, I realized that an exhibition of her work and other African American artists was being shown at Hunter College in New York, and thought there very well might be some collectors out there looking for her work. I have not been able to find a biography about the artist but her work has been exhibited 2 places I can find. Back in the summer of 1973 she was exhibited alongside artists including James Denmark, Ann Tanksley, Frank Wimberley and others. They were exhibited at the Act of Art Gallery in Greenwich Village, a gallery focused on showing African American artists, particularly women. And now there is a retrospective on the gallery's work at Hunter College. I saw the pictures of the exhibition and one of Enid Moore's portrait of sisters is in the show. The other place I found her work exhibited is at the Dorsey Art Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. There is a work in the gallery's collection as well. And with all that, I still cant find a biography on the artist. This work is probably the best of her work that I have been able to find or see anywhere on the internet. Acrylic on canvas measuring 12 x 16 inches. Signed and dated, what I believe says '05 lower right. Painting is in wonderful as painted condition. Really an outstanding work showing an African American woman hanging the laundry in a landscape. Painting is signed on the back as well with a label from what was the probably the first time this painting was sold. Contemporary frame is complimentary and ready to hang. Really just a wonderful original African American scene painted by an African American woman artist. Frame measures 15 3/4 x 20 inches.
