Description: Offered as-is is an early pre-owned vintage F. Dick knife sharpening steel hone (sharpener rod is 12 inches long, tool with handle and ring is 19 inches in overall length), with diamond-shape guard and shellacked or varnished wood handle, made in Germany. The remaining red maple finish on handle is now brownish orange in color, and would be easy to strip if someone wanted to start over and refinish the grip; finish is chipped as shown (see photos) but is not sticky. F. Dick logo stamp includes an arrow shape (see photos). This has been a well-loved and well-used steel, is finer and smoother than some, and now may truly be described as rustic. Note that this sharpener is magnetic and round, tapering slightly toward its tip. Guard is not nicked, bent, or rusty. Strangely, the lathe-turned wood handle will not unscrew from the steel but will rotate; however handle is not cracked or nicked up, and carries a bright and shiny ring for hanging the tool up. Steel itself is clean and not rusty, and weighs just over 1 pound (468 grams). Please see all 14 photos, using zoom magnification as necessary, as the photos show the condition and otherwise complete the description of this older steel. To be wrapped securely and shipped inexpensively by trackable USPS ground advantage mail.
