Description: Vintage Tie Clip featuring the Crest of the Republic of Austria in quality hard enamel. The oval face of this tie clip measures 5/8 inches tall just over 3/4 inches wide, dating this tie clip to the early 1960s when smaller tie clips of this size were common. Interestingly, the design of the crest is lacking the broken chains that appeared in 1945 following Austria's independence from Germany. The crest without the chains as it appears on this tie clip was in use from 1919 to 1934, and the omission of the chains was likely an oversight by the jewelry manufacturer as this style and type of tie clip construction was not in use during that time.
