Description: A vintage Wedgwood 3 piece miniature Peter Rabbit bone china tea set in the original box offered by Snowdrift Antiques. Wedgwood began in 1759 when founder, Josiah Wedgwood, started as an independent potter in Burslem, England. Fast forward over 260 years later and Wedgwood is still producing many of the materials Josiah invented. This 3 piece Peter Rabbit set is extensively marked on the backs. It has the “Wedgwood /Bone China/MADE IN ENGLAND” mark as well as the Frederick Warne © mark. This set was made in 1983 in England. The mark tells us this is the original and now discontinued, English made set. Current pieces will be marked “Made in Bangladesh”. This set consists of a round Plate, Saucer, Cup and Cup. The cup and plate are painted with scenes and text from the Peter Rabbit story by Frederick Warne. The saucer has text only. For size refence the plate measures 3 116 inches in diameter. It also has its original, folding Wedgwood pamphlet. The set comes in its original box with original Wedgwood packing paper. It is in excellent condition. It has spent the large majority of its time packed away. There are no nicks, chips or flea bites on any of the pieces. The paint and text colors are as strong as the day the pieces were made. This is an exquisite, discontinued and rare Wedgwood miniature tea set, ready to be on display in its new home. It will ship insured with a signature required for delivery.
