Description: I had fun tracking down the history of this necklace! The necklace was designed and created by Ann Biederman. Ann primarily now works creating exquisite 22k gold jewelry of ancient and classical designs, but historically she ventured into other metals. I took a google lens photo of this necklace, and up popped the website shown above. I contacted Ms. Biederman, and was told by her that yes, this was the original piece she created. UPDATE: As it turns out, it seems Ms. Biederman must have made at least 2 of these necklaces. Doris Duke, millionaire tobacco heiress and philanthropist, and founder of the Newport Restoration Foundation owned one of them. It is currently still owned by the Foundation. I'm uncertain how this piece came to be sold at auction, and if perhaps Ms. Duke owned 2 of them. It's more likely that Ms. Biederman created another piece identical to Ms. Duke's. I found this at an auction in Concord NH, where consignor information is kept private. THANKS for stopping!
