This Mesoamerican domesticated animal was shorter and thicker than the Aztec xoloescuincle dogs that still exist today. These short, pot-bellied figures have been found in shaft tombs throughout the southern state of Colima, hence their name. This rare terracotta figure measures 7.25” high x 12” diameter x 7.5” depth; and weighs 1.6 kilograms. There are chips along the edge of one ear and one in an eye.
