Each one is individually handcrafted and hand sewn, filled with millet (thus the namePoupe Millet, pronounced POO-PAY MEE-YAY). With fanciful headdresses and a myriad of exotic fabrics, no two dolls are alike. The headdress is fashioned from a special cold-compound process which creates a smooth porcelain look, but adds strength and durability forthe intricate designs. In 1983 the "Poupe Millet" studio opened in Paris, France, with two artists: Serge Chichportich, born in Paris, France and Pablo Pars, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Of the two original artists, Serge is the only one still creating the original Poupe Millet. Each one is signed by the artist.
