Description: This large original signed watercolor painting and carved wood frame have a classic MCM look! (Back has artist name & 1968.) Even though the original watercolor painting (done by Texas artist C.Simmons) is well done, the *matting is not. So I am putting the value mostly on the period frame. *It is triple matted; the main mats are a CORK-like heavy paper that are in poor condition (see pics). This carved wood frame screams MODERNIST or ABSTRACT. It has a 1-1/2" inside area carved with deep horizontal lines, set on another dark (almost black stain) wood. The outer frame is a medium broen stain color. This vintage frame is 26" x 30" and fits art that is 20" x 24" within the bevel. It is in very good condition. I have had 100s of frames, but this has to be in my TOP TEN (if you like Mid Century Modern)! (Back is marked $19.95, which today would be $180 for the frame only!)
