Description: Offered here is a vintage pewter chocolate pot/syrup jug retailed by the renown Cartier. This fine piece is in very good clean condition without any dents. The hinge works and the lid fits tight. There are a few, very few minor surface patina that happen just from being dusted, polished etc. This fine piece measures approximately 6 1/2" to the top of the final. Well marked on the bottom with the Cartier name. Historically, chocolate was always a beverage and was always served hot. These small pots were used for its preparation. Powdered cocoa would be placed in the pot and hot water added to make a sludge. When it was served, small cups would be filled about half full with cream and sugar. The hot chocolate "mud" would be added to the cup.
