Description: DESCRIPTION: Vintage Small Traditional Bali, Indonesia Hand Painted Kamasan picture. Shows Man and Woman- perhaps Prince and Princess. These traditional paintings are done on a type of cotton canvas, using natural pigments, and are polished afterwards in the traditional way. Kamasan Traditional Balinese Art dates back to the 14th century, to the village of Kamasan in the Klung Kung Regency. Typically the stories depicted are related to the Ramayana Story ( Ancient Sanskrit epic about Prince Rama's quest to rescue his beloved wife Sita from the clutches of Ravana with the help of an army of monkey's), Mahabharat Story (Ancient Indian War Epic involving 2 branches of a family battling for the throne), or the Sutasoma Holy book ( 14th CenturyJavanese Poem which teaches "Unity in Diversity").
