Description: This is a vintage 1950s era Peter's Sportswear 'weatherproof' satin bomber jacket, in approximately a size small (S) or extra small (XS). The jacket is made of a satin material that is treated to make it more weatherproof and more wind-resistant, likely with a tighter than normal weave. The resulting look of the fabric is somewhere between a satin and a sharkskin, with an amazing sheen and luster that catches the light and alters the perceived color of the jacket. Additionally, the jacket features a number of unique and gorgeous details. The front of the jacket by the zipper is reinforced with an downwards arcing segment of fabric that prevents the ribbed hem from wrapping around all the way, which is probably the most immediately noticeable unique feature. Additionally, the jacket features a striped ribbing, which is not wool, and instead cotton, or a cotton-mix, which is unusual for this time period. The zipper is a 50s-era Talon zipper with a zipper pull that could be even older than that, given the vertical Talon branding. The red fabric of the jacket has been sun faded and is paler in certain areas, appearing as a orange or peach color. The measurements would indicate somewhere between a size small and an extra small, but check the measurements below before purchasing. There is fading throughout the jacket, likely from extended sun exposure, as well as some minor stains. The jacket has several pulls and tears throughout the main body of fabric. The stitching attaching the ribbing on the hem has become partially unraveled, but the ribbing is still firmly attached.
