Description: Boy Mom Troop Leader Jacket Size M - approximately a modern size S /M Shown displayed on my size large dress form, and it’s snug. This is a wool / nylon blend Mackinaw style shirt jack / shacket perfect for fall and winter. It’s a crisp, bold shade of red, with a single BSA emblem patch on the chest. There’s a fold down collar, chunky mid century style plastic buttons, and long sleeves with button cuffs. This is similar to most of the outdoor jackets being made for ladies at this time by LL Bean and Woolrich, just to name a new. What makes this special: This 1950s / 1960s era piece is an unusual find - most of the Boy Scouts of America jackets are uniform pieces meant for the teen boys that wore them as troop uniforms, and they have regalia based on camp outs and jamborees. I’ve only seen a few others of this specific jacket surviving - it’s the adult women’s version of the troop leader jacket, different from the others as it does not have chest pockets and it’s a fold over right right over left with darts at the bust, denoting it’s a women’s jacket. The inside tags also do not read “youth” next to the size, so it’s definitely different than most of the jackets you see listed.
