Description: This is a beautiful vintage three light wrought iron and handblown amber glass hanging swag lamp fixture. I would estimate it dates circa 1950s or 1960s. From the top hook to the bottom of the lowest light, the fixture measures 3‘9“ tall (114 cm). Each fixture measures 12 3/4 inches tall x 5 inches wide (32.4 cm x 12.7 cm). The large decorative wrought iron piece on top measures approximately 14 inches wide (35.5 cm). The chain measures approximately 13 feet long and has about another foot of extra wire. (33 cm, 35.5 cm). Everything about this is original, except the bulbs. I took it down from the ceiling at a house sale. It had quite a bit of dust on it so I cleaned it up and washed the glass. The woman told me it had been hanging there since it was purchased. I even took the hooks from the ceiling, but the screws inside them were anchored to the ceiling and I couldn’t get those out. I don’t know if this is considered Murano glass, but I am fairly certain it is Italian handblown glass. You can see many of the bubbles that are formed by this technique. Each of the lights has its original diffuser going around the socket. There is some light wear to the surface of the wrought iron, but this is common in any piece of lighting like this. If you look closely at the closeup photos, you’ll see that the glass is a little higher or lower going around the rim on either side where it fits into the wrought iron. Given how tight the iron is holding onto the glass, I don’t think this happened over time, but was just made this way originally as it is not a perfect science. It’s not a big deal because no one will notice this anyhow. The one thing that might be noticed (or not) is that the long black wire has a thin film of plastic going around it and some of this has crackled and come off. I looked at it closely and this does not affect the wire at all. In fact, I’ve never seen this type of plastic surrounding a wire before. The lights are all working well. Still, I will always recommend rewiring any vintage lighting. It weighs 16 lbs. 5 oz. (7.4 kg).
