The larger stones, at the bottom of the earrings, are turquoise/chrysocolla. The smaller triangular shaped stones on the little hinged part are red colored fire opal cabochons. The earrings are very high-quality pieces of hand-made jewelry and extremely well made. The earrings in my photos are the actual earrings you will receive. These earrings were made by the very creative and talented jewelry makers at The Harrington Collection, founded by Neil Herman and Laura Lampe. Together, they became one of the hi-end jewelry designers, artisans, and craftspeople that I most admired in the country. I bought many pieces from them over the years. Each earring is marked “14K” and each have The Harrington Collection “THC” logo in a separate hallmark. These marks are on the backs of the earrings – see my photo of the marks. I bought these new from Neil & Laura in 1998. These earrings have been in my personal collection since then and as is the case with all of my fine jewelry have been well cared for by me in my smoke free home.I want to be clear that I am not an expert on jewelry. I have purchased many pieces of jewelry over the years for my personal use and am in the process of selling off some of the pieces that I don’t often wear anymore. I tried to buy from what I believed to be reputable sources and have enjoyed these pieces immensely over the years. I have not had this piece appraised or examined by a jeweler and I am describing it exactly as I recorded it when I purchased the earrings back in 1998. As mentioned above I am not a jeweler or gemologist but I am an honest person and will give my best honest estimate on the size of the stones. Using a loupe and a ruler graduated in millimeters, I did my best to accurately measure the stones. The turquoise/chrysocolla stones measure approximately 15/16” (24 mm) top to bottom and about 9/16” (14 mm) left to right at the widest point. The triangular shaped red fire opal stones measure approximately 3/16” (5 mm) point to point. I do my best to describe all items as accurately and honestly as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. The earrings are in excellent to mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. In looking the earrings over with a loupe, I see only some very light signs of use to the gold and no dings to the stones. None of this is visible to me without the use of a loupe and is exactly what I would expect to see on a gently used piece of jewelry like this – see my photos. There may also be some minor tarnish to the gold on the inside, as expected on older pieces of jewelry like this. Other than what I have mentioned I see no problems with the earrings. They are beautiful and ready to wear. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
