Description: Vintage 1990s Rock for Choice Riot Grrrl shirt. I’m the original owner and got this at the July 14, 1994 concert at Irving Plaza in New York that featured Bikini Kill on stage with Joan Jett, Veruca Salt, and Tuscadero. Own a piece of women in rock history! It was my first indie show and a huge influence on me, so I cherished this shirt and almost never wore it. Maybe twice? There’s no fading or wear of any kind on the shirt and the design looks brand new—a mint condition single-stitch shirt with a rare, psychedelic/skate-wear version of the Rock for Choice logo. Rock for Choice was a concert series benefitting reproductive rights activism that ran from 1991-2001 and included many of the best bands of the era including Nirvana, Hole, Soundgarden, Liz Phair, Rancid, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, and L7. People talk about Lollapalooza and Lilith Fair, but these concerts were quietly way more influential and were an awesome fusion of alternative music and left politics at time when that was desperately needed, much like it is now. Nirvana played the first benefit, and Krist Novoselic wore a Rock for Choice shirt at Nirvana's last-ever show in Munich in 1994. Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam wore one to the 1992 MTV VMAs. Size Large – 19.5” across the chest. Local pickup available in Los Angeles.
