Description: This Gzhel tea pot is hand-painted by Russian artist in village of Gzhel in Russia in 1990s. The tea pot has official 1990s stamp of Gzhel production factory (see picture). Size is 11.5 inches high. Gzhel is the famous blue and white porcelain from Russia. This porcelain takes its name from village of Gzhel located 60 km from Moscow. Blue color Gzhel got from blue cobalt. The name Gzhel originated from the Russian word, which means burn, in the sense of firing clay. The region of Gzhel is famous for its fabulous clay. In the 17-th century Russian Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich learned about super clay and large-scale production began. Porcelain from Russian Gzhel has a long history, from semi-faience to faience, and later to porcelain. Excellent vintage condition. Pictures are part of description. Because the teapot is hand painted the painting might be slightly different but very close to the pictures. It will be sent from Texas in 2 business days.
