Description: This very rare South Carolina Tricentennial commemorative, zippo-style lighter is a wonderful piece of South Carolina history. These were produced for the 1970 South Carolina Tricentennial that celebrated the 300 years since the establishment of the first settlement in South Carolina at Charles Town Landing in 1670. This was a huge celebration that included three Tricentennial Exposition Parks located across the state in Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville. The lighter is embossed (not a decal or sticker) with the registered logo of the 1970 South Carolina Tricentennial that included three parallelograms (one to represent each of the three centuries since settlement and the three exposition parks). There were many memorabilia produced for the tricentennial, and commemorative coins can still be found for sale online. However, I have never seen another Tricentennial lighter during my many years of living in SC. This lighter has never been used and is in great condition. The chrome flip top is still lustrous, opens smoothly and has no dents or dings. The ivory bottom has some discoloration and shows some wear from being around for the last 54 years. Comes with flint (not installed). Details Approximate measurements: width 1.5" x height 2.25"
