Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice and somewhat rarer Shure Brothers 578 model Omnidyne (omni-directional) dynamic microphone from the 1960's. This was a very modern design for Shure at the time and has a sleek, clean look to it. This was great for general broadcasting and recording purposes. The 578 does not work however and should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only. It comes with the short cable, mic clip and older cast iron stand in which to display. This will make a very nice example to use on a t.v set or as a movie prop as a working 578 would cost quite a bit more. You can see the mics characteristics in pic # 2 from an old Shure catalog I have. Again, mic is currently non-working. It should be noted that about half of the 578 series mics I come across no longer work so do be make sure that any of these you buy is actually in good working order before you pull the trigger. The 578 microphone was short run production Shure microphone manufactured for about 10 to 15 years and had an incredibly small dynamic element for it's time with a clean dual impedance sound and one of Shure Brothers most expensive dynamic mics available. As you can see in the pictures provided...this 578 is in very nice condition having just very lite wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The Shure label looks really good and the on / off switch works excellent. The front screen is free of any tarnish, dents or odors. Physically speaking this 578 is an easy 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. The mic itself is appx 11 inches long X 3/4 inches wide. Very lite weight and easy to hold for prolonged periods of time. A short 7 inch cable is attached to the mic. It was cut short and a quality vintage Cannon female XLR end connector was attached. It's far more practical than the 20 foot cable it originally came with. Soft, pliable and free of damage. Simply attach any longer XLR cable as an extension to complete the look of the mic as a prop piece. The mic clip is a Shure model that works great for this mic and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have. Plenty of tilt up and down as needed. The clip is in excellent shape. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The mic comes with a nice newer 1980's era Chinese model cast iron desk stand providing a very stable platform. The original black paint is very nice as is the 4 inch chrome riser as is the 3 rubber pads on the bottom to keep the stand from scratching any surface it may rest on. Total height with mic and stand is appx 13 inches tall (when raised up fully) X 6 inches wide. A beautiful 578 worthy of any fine vintage mic collection even. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
