Description: If you love the sport of golf, and if you follow major golf tournaments like the Masters Championship, then you have probably heard of "the shot heard 'round the world", which occurred at the 1935 Master's, hit by Gene Sarazen. Gene Sarazen was probably best known for being the first to win the career Grand Slam (the PGA, the U. S. Open, the Masters, and the British Open). But it was in the 1935 Master's that Sarazen hit the famous "shot heard 'round the world". This vintage 1957 large (14 1/2" x 26") color calendar page was distributed 67 years ago by well-known Brown & Bigelow of St. Paul, Minnesota, who excelled in their beautiful work. This print was taken from a large wall calendar featuring Great Moments in Sports. While the entire page measures 14.5 inches by 26 inches, the golfing art work measures 14 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches. This print is a must-have for any golf enthusiast, and is absolutely perfect for framing and displaying in a home or office. And if any of you golfers have a "man's cave", just think of how this print framed would look on a wall. Since the viewer probably cannot see the caption clearly enough in the attached photos to read it word-for-word, I have included this in its entirety for the benefit of the observer. It states: In golfdom's lore "the shot heard 'round the world" applies to a miraculous stroke executed at the 1935 Master's in Augusta, Georgia. Here leading contenders battled for the title and gold which are annually awarded the Masters' winner. Craig Wood's early score was conceded good enough to capture the tourney, but the shot that was good enough to produce Gene Sarazen's greatest thrill exploded in dramatic fashion. Trailing by three strokes with four holes to go, Sarazen teed off, little dreaming that his next shot would be the most historic ever made. He uncorked a smashing No. 4 wood that carried and rolled 235 yards to the green and fell into the cup! A double eagle! In the space of seconds he had whittled Wood's lead to nil. Gene Sarazen's defeat of Craig Wood in the play-off was an anti-climax to a moment in sports, the greatest he has ever experienced. This print by Brown & Bigelow is just another print that belongs in the class of being incredible. If one goes into their Golf History Books, they will see how great Gene Sarazen was in the 1920s and 1930's. But they will also see another reason for his being in the history books with such esteem. Gene Sarazen invented the modern sand wedge! True statement. Please look it up! This 67 year-old calendar page, which framed, would give one a show-piece worthy to be displayed anywhere. If one is a golf aficionado, and collects golfing memorabilia, how great is this piece!
