Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. It is a model #140. The serial number on this horn is 339,xxx, which indicates a c.1951 production date. That makes this a series III Aristocrat. The series III is exactly the same as the famous "Big B" Aristocrat, but with slightly scaled down engraving, and no G# trill key. This horn features Buescher's proprietary snap-on resonators (of which all are still present!), and Norton screw in springs. This sax is being sold as is for repair/restoration. It is not currently in playing condition. It probably could be adjusted back to reasonable playing condition with a handful of pads being replaced, but for optimum playability a full overhaul is highly recommended. This horn is in overall very good physical condition. The body is straight. The neck has not been pulled down. There is a dent on the front of the neck, and the octave key saddle is pushed in on one side. The body has a few small dings (on the sides of the bow), and maybe some additional tiny pings/nicks, but no significant dents. The bow guard has not been pushed in. The rim of the bell has not been bent. I don't see any pushed in posts or key guard feet. The ribbon style key-guards are all nice and straight. I don't see any re-soldered joints. The keys are all moving freely and rebounding properly when released. The pin part of the octave key might not be original, although I'm not sure either way on that. All of the original snap-on resonators are intact. The amber colored rollers are all turning freely. The lacquer is mostly intact, with some scratching/scuffing and spotting wear from normal use. It has darkened with age to a golden honey hue. The pads are old (quite possibly original), so the leather is pretty dried out. This horn comes in an old tweed exterior 'doubler' style case. It has a spot on the interior of the lid that will hold a flute. The clarinet insert is missing though. The case is solid, but very worn. It is missing some trim from the exterior. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included, except for a plastic end plug. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
