Description: Elegant 1950s teal cocktail dress with taffeta underskirt topped with tulle overskirt featuring some embroidered tulle. This dress was purchased at an estate sale of a woman who had been prominent in society. There are no tags as it is a custom made dress of quality sewing craftsmanship. It has a Basque waistline, dropped at the center front. Waist measures about 28". The bodice has a structured bust line and measures about 35". The cap sleeves are made from the embroidered tulle to cover the shoulders. The skirt is full with two layers of tulle over the taffeta underskirt and measures 35" from waist to bottom of tulle. Zipper closure in back works perfectly. The dress was too small to force the zipper over my dress form. The estate sale person told me the original owner wore the clip-on earrings with this dress so I bought both. They match it perfectly. I will include the earrings. I think they should stay together. The original owner was obviously a lady of refined tastes.
