Description: UP FOR BID: a tremendous piece of Hokie History. Vintage 1940s VPI Fightin’ Gobblers Wool Stadium Blanket 65”x65” Rounded Corners. Collegiate Mfg Co. Ames, IA. Dad played on Tech’s very first post-season bowl team in the Jan 1, 1947 Sun Bowl. We were known as the VPI Fightin’ Gobblers back then. Dad got ahold of this stadium blanket once he got to Blacksburg, but I’m not sure of it’s exact age. It’s no doubt from the 1940s. As the photos clearly indicate, it’s in beautiful condition, although it does have two small scuffs that I’ve indicated with black arrows. Just had it professionally dry cleaned.
