VINTAGE 1939 HANDMADE WEDDING DRESS - LACE TRIM, PUFF SLEEVES, SHEER, PETITE!

Description: This wedding dress belonged to my mother-in-law who was married in a Virginia garden wedding in 1939. She stored the dress folded in a small box. Prior to her death, she instructed me to sell her dress on eBay, but we hoped someone in the family might want to wear it. It is so small (size approximately 0-2), we don't believe it would ever fit any family member. Therefore, the decision has been made to let it go. The dress is quite wrinkled, and I have not tried to iron or clean it. It has yellowed, but if memory serves me correctly, she told me the original color was ivory/ecru instead of pure white. The dress is handmade. It is totally sheer, and no petticoat was stored with it. The dress may be organza or chiffon. I believe it is not stiff enough to be organdy, but I'm not educated about fabrics to know for certain. The dress flows beautifully. The zipper worked when I tried it. Condition: There are things to note - a brownish stain/tear underneath the right sleeve (see photo), a perspiration stain underneath the left sleeve (see photo), a small stain on the front (see photo); parts of the bottom hem are dirty, perhaps from dashing through grass and unpaved areas, and more stains are near the bottom on the back (see photos). She did not have the dress cleaned after she wore it, so it is in its original 1939 condition. Several of the photos show the lace trim to be in very good condition. It measures 55" from the top of the neck to the bottom. The waist, as you can tell from the photo, is 11" across. She had a tiny, tiny bust, but I can't estimate the bust size. The black & white photo is of her wearing the dress at her wedding. I have tried to describe the items as accurately as possible, but please ask any questions prior to purchasing.
