Description: This is an amazing 1927 hospital receipt in good vintage condition (see photos). An extra tray for a guest was a whopping 75¢! The baby in question was Robert Russell Jones. I found this receipt at his Evanston, Illinois. Jones did well for himself. He married the author Dorothy V. Jones, had two children, and enjoyed a successful career in journalism, culminating in him being appointed editor of Industrial Research magazine. Sadly, one son passed away as a young adult. For a bit more history, Robert Russell Jones’ mother Marie was the great great granddaughter of the Potawatomi missionary Robert Simerwell. Her great grandmother was Elizabeth Simerwell Carter, the first white female born in Kansas.
