Description: This beautiful vintage laminated Bakelite bracelet has been restored to its original bright white and semi translucent marbled lemon yellow colors and looks amazing! If you take a look at photo #10 you can see the colors of the bracelet before the restoration. One side was a solid dark butterscotch and the other half was a marbled brown and butterscotch color. Based on the age of the patina and color white/lemon yellow color combination used in making the bracelet, I'm thinking this bangle was made in the 1950's. The bracelet is 1/2" wide with a slightly domed shape; weighs 15 grams and has a 2.5" interior diameter. The bracelet is in excellent refurbished condition with no chips, cracks or gaps in the lamination. The bracelet tested positive for Bakelite using Simichrome polish pre-restoration. (See photo #10) NOTE: As part of the refurbishment process, surface dirt and the oxidized patina that has changed the colors of the bracelet due to exposure to sunlight are removed. Sunlight not only causes the color of the Bakelite to change (often to a darker shade) but the oxidized patina is also what reacts to the Simichrome polish that changes the pink color of the Simichrome polish to a nicotine yellow indicating a positive result for Bakelite. So until the bracelet has been exposed to sunlight for some period of time, the bracelet will not test positive with Simichrome polish.
