Description: VICTORIAN JACQUARD WOVEN PAISLEY SHAWL, 1860s, RED CENTER, 68-1/2" x 68" A medium weave jacquard woven antique Victorian 1860's wool paisley shawl with a red center, likely India origins has extravagant design elements and dramatic complex boteh designs. This paisley shawl is not hand made, and done on a jacquard loom. These shawls are essential antique accessories for Civil War garments and make nice decorative touches in the home as well, try them for holiday buffet table, a pleasant and no fuss alternative to white linen or lace. This elegant 1860's paisley shawl breathes with vibrance of old colors. APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS The paisley shawl measures 68-1/2" x 68". CONDITION Paisley Shawl is in good condition, unwashed, with no fading, no spots, has no holes. There is a continuous black thread running whip stitches along the length of one side of this paisley to stabilize. Some of the shawl's colored fringes are missing on its two sides. This piece is well preserved and worthy of collecting.
