Description: Victorian Hand Tinted Photo Crayotype Crayon Portrait Enlargement Handsome Woman This appears to be a photograph that has fin hand tinted in color. We believe it is crayotype or crayon portrait enlargement also sometimes referred to as solar enlargement. Please note that we are not experts of this type of art so it is imperative that you review all photos carefully and ask any questions prior to purchase to ensure that the type of art is what you expect. The woman in this artwork has a slight smile and looks directly at the photographer. It’s unusual in Victorian photos for subjects to be smiling. When purchased the owner was unable to provide any information about this piece of art, however, it was purchased in upstate NY, north of Saratoga Springs and Albany NY. The print/photo is in fair to good preowned condition for its assumed age of circa 1909. We see no rips or tears however there is significant water damage to the lower edge and some to the upper left and right side of the art. The frame appears to be a mixture of gesso and wood, and we would consider it to be in very good condition considering presumed age. Very few missing pieces, however our best guess is that this was painted at some point as there appears to be gold underneath and brown on top. Additionally, there are white stains (possibly paint drips?) and other imperfections. This large piece measures approximately 23” x 27” Please review all photos very carefully as part of this description. Please ask any questions prior to purchase. This is an extra large piece and the shipping cost reflect the box and packing needed to ensure its safe delivery.
