Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE VICTORIAN ANTIQUE MT. WASHINGTON BURMESE TOOTHPICK HOLDER ART GLASS HAND PAINTEDA beautiful Victorian antique art glass toothpick holder. It was made by the firm of Mt. Washington Glass, formerly of New Bedford, Massachusetts, circa 1886. The glass is known as “Burmese” and this one is described in the following Glass Toothpick holder book as “Lusterless Ivory,” so this one has no rose-pink color. It glows an intense whitish-yellow color under a blacklight. It is decorated with a very attractive 100% hand painted design of what appear to be “oak leaves and blue dots,” and has a reddish enamel band around the top edge. It has a round base and the rim flares out into a square opening. bulbous shaped base and a flared out square mouth opening. It has a concave ground and polished pontil mark on the underside. It has been part of my personal collection since the year 2013. This is an exceptionally well made and decorated piece and is a very high-quality piece of art glass. The piece in my photos is the actual piece you will receive. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” and “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below.In the 2003 book Mt. Washington Art Glass and Webb Burmese: Identification & Value Guide by Betty B. Sisk, three similarly shaped and decorated toothpick holders are pictured on pages 241 and 245. Similarly shaped and decorated toothpick holders are also pictured in the 2005 book Glass Toothpick Holders: Second Edition by Neila & Tom Bredehoft and Jo & Bob Sanford on page 139. I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs to the glass, and no obvious signs of use. I see only some very small and minor loss to the enamel decoration and some signs of use to the underside of the foot where the piece sits. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
