Description: Set of Four (4) Victor Victrola Phonograph Light Green Felt - Lid Bumper Pads for Cabinet Lids Other Kits and Parts Available - See My Other Listings This Kit Includes: Four (4) 5/8" Diameter Light Green Felt Pads (Most cabinets only require two pads. Choose the color based on the color of the turntable felt.) These pads are used on the front corners of the cabinet where the lid closes against the body. They keep the shellac finished surfaces from contacting each other. If these bumpers are gone or worn out, the underside of the lid edge will rest against the top edge of the cabinet. This will lead to damage of the shellac finish along the edges. Many cabinets that I restore have such damage. Replacing them is not merely a cosmetic difference or preference, but is an important element of preserving the overall appearance and quality of the cabinet. Installation Hints: If the old pads are still present, carefully remove them with a hobby knife or single edge razor blade. Two pads are normally located on the front corners of the cabinet itself and are not usually found on the underside of the lid. I give you four pads just in case you need them. With the pads fully removed you will notice a center hole and slightly indented circular area in the wood where each pad lays. (Note: The center hole is simply the result of the center alignment pin of the stamping tool that was used to form the indented circle.) To install the new pads I recommend using contact adhesive/cement because, first of all, it is most similar to the glue Victor used, and second, it sets very fast and does not tend to bleed through the felt as does common white glue. You may, however, use whatever glue you prefer. Just use it sparingly so that it does not wick through felt. Do NOT close the lid until the glue is fully set - else, you may glue your lid shut.
