Description: Very Rare Giant Clam Shell Tridacna Derasa 13x10 inches. I put Tridacna Gigas in the description because that is the name most people call giant clams. These clam shells are more sought after than other giant clam shells for inside displays due to the thinner, smoother more porcelain like and translucent shells. The Tridacna Gigas shell is heavier and thicker than the Tridacna Derusa. They are better suited for outside displays. I purchased this shell from the owner of a shell shop on the Washington Coast when he closed his store 30 years ago. He kept this shell as a display because it was one of the nicest Tridacna Derusas shells he had seen. I also have a larger one of these shells for sale. These Tridacna Derusa Shells are no longer found this big because they are harvested before they get to this size. Tridacna Derusa shells in this size range are very rare and sell for $1,000- $1,500.00. Some of the pictures include a 12oz can of beer to give perspective to the size of the shell. The shell measures 13x10 inches. I lost the weight measurement after packing the shell for shipping. I think it is around 5 pounds. The shipping box weighs 8 pounds. From a Smoke Free Pet Free Home.
