Description: Beautiful Vatican Bronze Medal Pope Paul II Bust Right Boar Hunt Scene By Girolamo Paladino For Your Old Bronze Medal or Papal Medal Collection-MED192 Details Description: A rare early restrike papal states bronze medal with the image of the bust of Pope Paul II on the obverse. Paul III was pope in the period 1464-1471. The reverse shows the images of a boar hunt depicting a boar being chased by dogs and a hunter on horseback. There are trees, birds and other men with spears. A beautiful and fairly unusual artistic design for papal medals. The obverse shows the bust of the pope facing right with the inscription "PAVLVS.II.VENUTUS.PONT.MAX." along the edge surrounding the pontiff's bust. The reverse has a legend "SOLUM.IN.FERAS.PIUS.BELLANTUR.PASTOR." in three lines in exergue. An interesting and rare re-strike. The medal is nicely toned in a rich brown coloring with very nice eye appeal. The edge of the medal is plain and unmarked. This is a rare nice-looking medal, which would make a worthy addition to any collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
