Cover franked with a 58 cent flag stamp #5657 (FDOI) plus a 15 cent Vietnam Campaign Ribbon stamp (Sc # 1802). Color 2003 photo of ship in Australia printed on cachet #2949 by Alvin Eckert, USCS #9964. USS Constellation was a 1,088' Kitty Hawk Class carrier that served from 1961 until 2003. She was among the first to fight in Vietnam waters, deploying for nine months in 1964-1965. She mainly served in the Pacific but later the Atlantic and Med and fought in Desert Storm. The proud vessel was towed to Brownsville, TX and on May 10, 2017 she was completely recycled into scrap metal.
