Much more attention was given to those with disabilities who were deaf or mute. Issued June 27, 1980 in Tuscumbia, Alabama AL, the stamp was designed by Paul Calle, who used engraving for this classic portrayal. This First Day Cover is part of a very specialized and unique FDC collection of #1824's, from someone who specialized in this catalog number for many years, and had one of the most complete sets of different cachets known.
