Description: I have here for sale an unusual hand made engineered item in this large heavy stainless steel disc which is marked with degrees all around from 0 to 90 in four sections. Constructed from a thick heavy piece of stainless steel measuring about 11 inches in diameter , about 2mm thick and weighs 1.3kg. I have carried out much research on this item but i am unable to be absolutely positive of its original use, it was sourced from a collectors fair on the south coat of England near to the military sites of Portsmouth, Gosport and other military installations in this area covering naval and other forces headquarters. This particular collectors fair had many military items of interest and this item just took my eye as being something of interest. As you can see all the markings are hand struck and the individual small holes all around must have taken many hours of meticulous work to make this an accurate item. On the back there is just the holes showing from the front. The two holes one in the middle and the smaller one may give an indication of intended use, perhaps the middle large hole was the turning point and the smaller hole once was fitted with a handle to turn the disc ? This is just a suggestion. Perhaps this disc could be put to use as some sort of sundial ? Being stainless steel this item can be left outside without corroding. Many thanks for looking and any questions please email.
