This came as part of a lot in a German Auction, and I am not exactly sure of its purpose. It appears to be a hat or headpiece from the 19th Century, with very elaborate hand made metallic lace, metal sequins, and tiny mercury glass beads. A lot of work went into this piece, and I am guessing it has something to do with Christmas celebrations. This reminds me in in the work of a set of elaborately embroidered Priest's robes from the 1850s that I purchased years ago in France. It is a really interesting piece, and has a top piece that comes off. See the paper label- I have been unable to translate what it says. This measures 6.25" long x 4.5" wide x 3" tall.
