On August 24-25, Ukrainian battalions were encircled. On August 28, as a result of negotiations, a decision was made to withdraw Ukrainian defenders through the "green corridor".However, on August 29, the Russian military opened fire on the evacuation convoy. According to official data, 366 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, 429 were wounded of various degrees of severity, and 300 were captured.Their path lay through sunflower fields.
