Description: TV Guide 1970's Marketing Presentation Framed Slide One (or Two) of a Kind! MY NOTES: This is a MUST for any true fan of TV Guide's history! This is an enlarged photograph of a slide that was used in an early marketing presentation for TV Guide Magazine from very late 1970's. The photograph is in very good condition although the black plastic laminate has begun to come loose from the wooden frame it is attached to. This is very common for these types of frames which were very popular in the 80's and 90's and were widely used. I think it can be glued back down or just change the frame completely. In the mid-1980's, I found this slide going through some files at my office and I had 2 of these and framed and double matted - one as a present to the Marketing Manager who made the presentation and had one done for my office, which I took with me when I left TV Guide. The actual photo size is about 9" x 13" and the with the custom matt the total size is 14" x 18". This slide was used in my friend's slide presentation, and it tells the story of TV Guide's spectacular newsstand sales up to that point in TV Guide's "heyday", selling one billion copies per year! The covers used were (left to right): - 8/6/77 - Behind the Muppet Empie with Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear- 6/11/77 - "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" with Dan Hagerty- 11/27/76 - "Starsky & Hutch" with Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul- 4/9/77 - Baseball 1977 Preview- 7/5/77 - Johnny Carson and Talk Show War- 5/7/77 - "One Day at A Time" with Valerie Bertinelli ,Bonnie Franklin, and Mackenzie Phillips I worked for TV Guide for 13 years (1986 - 1999) as the Regional Newsstand Manager for the New York Metro area and left as the National Training Manager. I had visited every one of TV Guide's regional offices around the country and in Canada. It was our job to make certain that TV Guide (and our client Reader's Digest), was front and center at every checkout in every viable retailer in the country. I was thrilled to have many TV Guide cover portraits and other memorabilia at my office in Lyndhurst, NJ. I believe this was framed with "safety glass", so I can ship the frame with the glass. I will take extra care in wrapping!! I shared my office with a wonderful guy who was our marketing manager who told me about the expensive process of how these portraits were produced - but back in our "hey day", we were printing money! I frequently visited the main office in Radnor, PA where the walls were covered with all the many years of TV Guide covers. As a kid, I collected TV Guide, and never did I dream that I would actually work for the magazine itself. Very fond memories. I will begin to list the covers I cannot display in my home anymore since I have downsized in my retirement. After I left TV Guide, I wrapped them, in the frames, in paper and stored them away until now. Get them while you can! 1. Will be securely wrapped in thick bubble wrap and shipped in a 24" x 18" x 4" sturdy cardboard box rather than a thin cardboard shipper that can bend. 2. We provide accurate photos so that you can see the items you are buying. 3. Comics, books or autographs shown in my photos are always the ones shipped. ATTENTION! If you do not have a secure mailbox, or if you live in an apartment or multi-family dwelling where shipments are left in a public place, hallway or vestibule, then we will not be responsible if the delivery is made but the item is stolen or taken by another neighbor or person living in your dwelling. If we have a tracking number, with confirmation that the delivery was made, then a refund will not be considered - SORRY. Also, please NOTE that the USPS is short staffed right now. Mail is taking longer. I can see how bad it is as I track just about everything. USPS Media Mail, which is slowest to begin with but very popular for printed matter, has really taken a hit. I have had packages stalled for over 3 - 4 weeks and there is really nothing you can or I can do about it right now. So, I am offering FedEx for heavy items to the west coast as well as USPS First Class (for a max weight of 15 oz.) and Priority Mail. Please let the choice be yours. Please take time choose either USPS Priority Mail OR FedEx OR UPS Ground for the best shipping option to your Zip Code. We do not and will not profit on shipping (hate that). Although we purchase boxes of many sizes, we also recycle and reuse clean boxes and packaging. There will be a $5 handling fee for large, oversized items. Bid with confidence.
