Description: This box measuring: 6.5 x 2.8 x 5 cm. (2 1/2" x 1 1/8" x 2"), is made from the fork of a cruelty free, deer antler. Deer and elk shed, or drop, their antlers every Spring, so this came from a still-living animal. After cutting off both forks, I finished the faces. On one face I inlaid a 28 x 20 mm. dyed turquoise, howlite cabochon topped by a round, 6 mm. Amazonite cabochon. On the other face I inlaid a round 18 mm. aventurine cabochon topped by a 1o x 8 amethyst cabochon. On the bottom, I cut the lid, finished the face, and carved an a prosperity rune.To me, prosperity represents one's heart desire - what truly makes you happy.Money can sometimes be a means towards that, but is not prosperity itself.I filled the carving with a mixture of purple metallic, acrylic paint and glue. This is reminiscent of a common hunter-gatherers’ practice of making paint by mixing hide glue and ground pigments i.e. ocher, charcoal or clay.The swivel lid closes tightly to keep your treasures safe. Its inner chamber’s dimensions are approximately: 4 x 2.2 x 2.5 cm. (1 3/4" x 7/8" x 1"). Because the antler’s core is grainy, I lined the inside with a non-toxic, acrylic, furniture finish. The last three pictures help show size. The first two of these are for scale; while, the last picture shows more of my work, and gives a better idea as to different sizes.
