Description: Item Information This listing is for a Heavy Duty Deep Transmission Pan with 2 Quarts Extra Capacity for the Turbo 400, TH400 Transmission with 13 bolt pan, finished in a Black Powder Coat. The transmission was first available in 1964 and production continued into the 1980's when its name was changed to 3L80. This pan is the same depth and capacity as the stock TH400 "truck" pan. If your stock pan has a dipstick receiver on the side of the pan, a PML Turbo 400 Deep Pan is not compatible with your vehicle. A magnetic drain plug and all mounting bolts are included with the pan. This pan has been designed for: + Cooling - extra capacity(2 quarts above stock), fins, and aluminum construction for reported temperature drops of 10 to 35 degrees + Clearance - medium height maintains clearance + Drain Plug - On the bottom front for easy draining + Secure Seal - machined flat gasket flange for a leak free seal + Strength - high quality aluminum, thick walls + Fins on bottom of pan for additional clearance + Designed to work with the stock filter and gasket This pan has been installed many 400 transmissions, which includes the following vehicles: + 1970-76 models of Corvette, Chevy, Cadillac, Olds, Buick + Blazer (2WD and 4WD) + Hummer H1, 1991 and 1992 + Jaguar (this pan has been installed on a 1991 XJS) + K1500, K2500, K3500 (2WD and 4WD) + Ferraris Configurations vary so always check your vehicle. There are three locations on this pan that can be machined for a temperature sending unit. The bosses (thick areas) on the inside of the pan are located on:+ Driver Side + Passenger Side + Rear of the pan near the drain hole These areas can be drilled and tapped for 1/8 NPT to 1/2 NPT holes. The default is 1/8 NPT if you order through the web site. Please call to order if you require a different size. There is a $65.00 machining charge. Filter This PML pan is designed to work with the stock filter and stock deep pan tube, bolt and sleeve. The stock deep pan tube is GM part number 8629526. The early valve body uses a side mount filter. This "old style" filter could hit the internal boss. One customer with the early valve body, ground off the boss. Another customer drilled a hole in the valve body to hold the "new style" filter in place on his old valve body. He had switched to the new style filter before getting a PML pan. He found the old style filter to be a "bad design" since it kept sucking air. The above photo shows the Deep Pan next to the Stock GM 400 pan. Above you can see the differences in depth of the PML 400 Deep Pan, GM Stock Pan and the PML Stock-style Pan. In the above photo you can see what is included with each PML pan(Cast Aluminum version shown for example)PML includes a new mounting hardware with each pan. The flange of the PML pan is much thicker than on the stock pan so the stock bolts would not be long enough. A magnetic drain plug is also included with the hardware for each pan. The magnet on the end of the drain plug can capture small bits of metal in the fluid. The above diagram shows the dimensions in inches of the Deep Pan so you can check clearances under you vehicle before ordering. Warranty Information PML products carry a lifetime limited manufacturer's warranty. Our products have proven to be trouble free since we began making them in 2000. If the pan or cover you receive is determined to have some kind of manufacturing defect (i.e., machining problem, leak due to porosity in pan wall), PML will replace the part. If you sell your vehicle with our part installed, we will honor the warranty with the new owner. If you run a cover or pan into a boulder and it cracks or is damaged, well, there's nothing PML can help you with there. Modifying our products voids the warranty.
