Description: DETAILS: Large antique 18 1/4 inch mulberry or purple transferware Staffordshire pottery platter depicting an interior review of the Crystal Palace. The Crystal Palace was finished in 1851 and opened by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. This platter was certainly manufactured to commemorate the opening, and the scene was likely taken from a contemporary print. MARK/SIGNATURE: unmarked CONDITION: In very good antique used condition free from chips, cracks, damage, and repairs. There are some typical and expected signs of age and of use including minor scratches, and wear to the edges with associated darkening or minor staining. There are a few typical minuscule nicks to the back edge that are barely worth mentioning. There may be normal factory original manufacturing imperfections including decal flaws, color variations, stilt marks, and other minimal glaze specs and dimples that are typical of antique Staffordshire transferware.
