Please use care when opening and retracting. The tip of the pen is retractable and to close it, you have to push on the side of the clip. Pen mechanism closes when attached to anything under the clip to prevent any accidental pen marks  So for example if you want to clip the pen to your front pocket, the action of slipping the clip on the pocket will retract the tip. The only downside with a pen of this size is that it can detract by pressing the clip, and sometimes it is possible that your hand will press the clip while writing, thus detracting mid letter. The click/unclick mechanism is interesting (regular click out, press pocket attachment in perpendicular to pen to retract), some buyers recommend squeezing the clip down a little tighter with some pliers, as I generally do that with all pens.
