Description: Lathe turned, 3 5/8” diameter with raised foot encased in repoussé silver and flared rim. Formed silver liner with folded edge which sits on the rim. Well-worn with edge chips the rim and damage to the liner as encountered with the earliest of Tibetan artifacts. These and virtually all other Buddhist artifacts were removed from Tibet in the 1950s following the Chinese invasion of 1950. Used in Lamist Buddhist ceremonies for the ritual sacrifice of wine.
