Description: Auction description Three Ladies of Medieval Tuscany, Delightful Symbolist Gouache ca. 1920 Unsigned, but clearly from a gifted hand, this delightful gouache on cardboard, evoking both the French Symbolist movement and late-medieval Italian painting, places us in an imaginary, dreamlike Tuscan landscape. In the foreground, lower left, three ladies in variously covered robes and scarves stand together. In the middle field, cultivated fields dominated by olive trees, and at the top of the picture, a medieval city with two tall towers. I believe this picture to have been created, with great care, early to mid twentieth century, probably by a French artist. Dimensions of the image are about 16 inches by 10.5 inches. The upper right corner of the cardboard support has been nicked, and there has been some toning. Condition overall is quite good, and this fine work gives a lot of pleasure the eye.
