It features 28 black-and-white photographs by Gerry Gomez of people with developmental disabilities. "The people in these photographs came to me as almost perfect subjects. In spite of the labels attached to them, they presented themselves as particularly unencumbered. Unlike the rest of us, with our insecurities and concerns about what others might think, they were 'empty' in front of the camera. In my view, the photographs, the people in the photographs, are just perfect in their 'ordinary everything-ness,' and might best be understood if we keep the following aphorism by Diane Arbus in mind when viewing them: 'A photograph has to be of something and what it's of is always more remarkable than the photograph.'" - Gerry Gomez.
