Description: This collectible scale model is based on the WWII British Sherman Firefly VC. The Firefly was basically a Sherman tank modified by the British army so that it could be more effective in battle against heavily armored German tank models such as the Panthers or Tigers. The modification consisted in the replacement of the 75mm gun that was originally mounted on the Shermans with a more powerful 17-pounder anti-tank gun. The modification turned out to be a success in battle. It gave the modified Sherman firefly the ability to penetrante the thick armor of the German tanks and it soon became highly valued by the british army. This collectible scale model is long out of production, and it's a rare find. It was produced back in 2006 by 21st Century Toys, just a few years before the company went out of business. *NOTE: First and last images correspond to an identical open-box scale model I previously sold and are being used in this listing for illustration purposes.
